Duration Of Stay
While often overlooked, the amount of time you plan to spend in the home is one of the most important factors to consider when buying. Essentially, does the duration of stay make it more economical to buy than rent? Of course, there is no simple answer to such a generic question. Each market is different and will require a subsequent analysis to determine if buying is the right choice. As a first home buyer, you can eventually turn your first home into an investment property but you will have to live in it initially. The rules vary from state to state but in Queensland you generally have to move into the property within 12 months of purchase and you need to live there for between six and 12 months.
